Popularly known as Malecón, this pier is actually the George Washington Avenue, which goes over almost the half of the city and runs in parallel to the coast.

Considered one of the seven cultural treasures by the International Organizer of the American Culture Capital in 2010, this avenue is known not only for being surrounded by relevant luxurious hotels and casinos, but also for its restaurants and party areas. It is also here where every July the Merengue Festival takes place.

As it is a tourist area, there are “calesas” and carriages services in order to enjoy a nice ride around the avenue, feeling the breeze of the Caribbean Sea. If you prefer to take a walk, there is a large number of benches with different designs along the promenade in case you wish to stop.

Enjoy the 14 kilometers boulevard that follows the shore of the wonderful Caribbean Sea, where you’ll find several important historical and touristic monuments. Moreover, you’ll find a large number of painters who practice Haitian naif art and who will be showing their nice paintings or wooden handicrafts in various stands along the Malecón (Pier).
