Located at the beginning of Las Damas Street, next to the Ozama Fortress, this wonderful construction dates back to the beginning of the 16th century.

With 3000 m² of living space, where you can find a large patio and corridors with Roman columns among many other attractions, it was requested to be built by Rodrigo de Bastidas in order to use it as his home.

Bastidas was known for his work as a Honorary Mayor in 1512 and founder of several cities of South America, like Santa Marta in Colombia or the first capital city of Venezuela.

Despite the death of Rodrigo de Bastidas 1527, the house continued to be used as a residence for his descendants; his son Rodrigo(the first Dominican bishop) and his niece, also Rodrigo (Mayor of the Fortress), are the most famous members of the Bastidas family.

Nowadays this building houses the Trampolín Children’s Museum and, during the visit, you’ll have the chance to see not only the captivating museum but also the beautiful and imposing Colonial construction.

Don’t miss the chance to visit one of the most important places from Colonial times.
