Discover the Fuerte San José Fortress, one of the forts which was part of the main defense of the Southern part of the city, along with ‘El Estudio’ (The Study), ‘San Tapia’ (wall), ‘San Juan’ and ‘San Gil’.

It was built in 1505 in a rectangular shape, with a facade and two sides. Facing the sea, the front wall has three openings for canyons while only having two on the sides, in addition to a ramp to move the heavy artillery pieces. On each side, you can see the two rounded watchtowers which complete the defense plan.

You can also watch the canyons of that time, which are located between the thick walls.
