This region of the country is well-known for the hospitality and kindness of its people as you will see it in San José de Ocoa Village, the most important village of the region. If you want to know the Dominican country life, going through this village is one of the best ways.

Baní, also called “capital del sur” (the south’s capital city) by the Dominicans, is one of the most beautiful cities of the region. You can visit popular cathedrals such as Cathedral of Baní, and go to the dunes, the salt mine of Baní or to the lovely Salinas Beach.

If you are keen on culture and entertainment, the province of Azua is the perfect place to visit as it has amazing beaches with crystal clear waters, such as Monte Río and Caracoles, among others, which are some of the best places to relax. In Azua de Compostela City, the capital city of the province, the monuments and museums will show you an important part of the national history. The exuberant nature is everywhere, and some great examples are: Ocoa Bay, where you can release adrenaline doing water sports, and admire its beauty; and the National Parks of José del Carmen Ramírez and Sierra Martín García, which are ecological areas full of wildlife.

Finally, the Province of San Cristóbal brings everything together: entertainment, culture, history, etc. To seek refuge from the bustle of the city, the best places are its peaceful beaches, such as Najayo and Palenque, as well as La Toma Bathing Resort, where music and refreshing baths create a perfect whole. San Cristobal City will show you the recent national history, as it was witness of the cruel dictatorship of Trujillo. The Monument of Los Constituyentes and The Mahogany House among other important places will show you this dark period of the national history.

Do not forget to visit one of the most important and attractive regions of the Dominican Republic during your trip in the country, the Dominican South Coast. There, you can make the most of your holidays.
