The Duarte House Museum is located in the former house of Juan Pablo Duarte and his family, situated only a block away from Plaza de España Square, where is the Alcázar de Colón (Columbus Fortress) in Santo Domingo.

This single-floor building was assembled circa 1760 and has four chambers, a living room and other ones with several uses. A collection of objects from Duarte are exhibited in order to show not only his contribution to the Dominican independence but also to provide visitors with the key ideas to realize how he was as a person.

Among other historical pieces, you’ll discover this politician’s personality by series of photographs, portraits, books, manuscripts and paintings that belonged to Duarte. Moreover, you’ll contemplate his Baptismal Certificate together with the urn where his remains were contained.

Currently, the building that hosts the Duarte House Museum is composed by a group of three houses numbered 308, 304 and 306, which relate to the Duarte House Museum, House of Salomé Ureña and a third place respectively.
