The Central Park of Puerto Plata has turned into the most popular meeting point in Puerto Plata. This beautiful park is also known as Independence Square.

Thanks to its history, this park is a national symbol, it was constructed as a tribute to general Luperón, who offered this beautiful park to the city of Puerto Plata, when it was the Dominican capital city.

 

Another attraction of the park is its privileged location, because it is surrounded by historical buildings like St. Philip the Apostle Cathedral, the House of Culture or the City Council. It must be taken into account that the park is encircled by a wide range of restaurants and bars, where you can have a refreshing cocktail or “tostones”, the typical Dominican snack.   

Puerto Plata’s Central Park is the perfect place to discover the Dominican culture and customs, because it is the most lively and bustling area.
